about the job market in northeastern ontario

Welcome to a free on-line training program aimed at newcomers to the region, entitled “What you need to know about the job market in Northeastern Ontario.” Although this bilingual training program was developed specifically to meet the needs of employers and newcomers in Northeastern Ontario communities, any newcomer to Canada will find it useful.

The objectives of the training program are as follows:

  • Familiarize newcomers with the distinctive characteristics of the labour market in Northeastern Ontario;

  • Ease the integration of newcomers into the Northeastern Ontario labour market.

Some pages have a button or an external link that you can click on to get more information on a particular topic. The training program takes between 1 and 2 hours to complete.

When you have finished, you will have the option of receiving a certificate by email. You will be required to provide your name as you would like it to appear on your certificate.

We recommend that you follow this training program on a computer, as it has not been adapted for mobile devices like tablets or smartphones.

This project is a collaboration between the Northeastern Ontario Settlement Services and the Centre régional de recherche et d’intervention en développement économique et communautaire (CRRIDEC, or Regional Research and Intervention Centre for Economic and Community Development). It was made possible through funding from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
